A new temporary exhibition opens on 6th august 2011 in the Palace of Gödöllő in the newly renovated Rudolf-wing. The art exhibition muster up the rich collection of ecclesiastical treasures from the Baroque era which attach to the builder of the palace, Antal Grassalkovich I.
Antal Grassalkovich I latched on Gödöllő to the architectural and cultural flow upon the base of the Italian Baroque style. Herewith he gave to the palace and to his environment not only the economic perspective but also artistic. He have had built 33 churches, most of them were decorated with objects of devotion which belong to the front-rank art of the Hungarian baroque-rococo style. Grassalkovich supported not only the objective art, but he was also the transmitter of the baroque sense and cult even as of the devotion of saints. By way of example, his veneration of Saint John of Nepomuk became a tradition in the region.
The art treasures collected from treasure-houses, churches, presbyteries and museums reflect the sophisticated artistic taste of the baroque lord.
